One priority is ensuring that the new school gets the playground and recreation amenities that our community youth need. I would also like to see investment in the river/trail front area in Point Park Subdivision. East Riverview has been booming residentially for the last few years and with the new trunk road extension and school, that trend is not likely to stop."My first job was helping out at my parent’s convenience store in Bridgedale when I was so little that I had to stand on a milk crate just to reach the cash. I love this community. That is why I chose to raise my family here. That being said, I believe we have been largely neglected to the left of the bridge from an investment standpoint and it is high time for that to change.”
“My kids are growing up with what they’ve always called ‘broken glass park’. We are in a unique position with our residential access to the beautiful Trans Canada Trail and we should take advantage of it by leveraging community partners and getting creative with funding. With the exception of the ball field which is well maintained, Hawthorne Park and the rest of the land has been left in ruins. I would seek community input on what they’d like to see there, but I imagine updated all-access playground equipment, natural landscape improvements and the section where old pool was filled in to become multi-use smooth surface for sports in the summer and skating in the winter.”
Election Priorities!
- Revitalization of the Point Park Riverfront and Hawthorne Park area.
- Ensuring the implementation of sports and recreation facilities for the new East Riverview School.
- Support of a strong and vibrant downtown area with a healthy blend of residential, retail and service development.
- Construction of Bridgedale Boulevard and an informed/proactive approach to associated residential and commercial development.
